When it comes to blenders I am pretty partial. I love my Vita-Mix blender! While at Costco the other day I witnessed a Blendtec demonstration and while I am not going to trade in my Vita-Mix for a Blendtec watching the demo did open my mind to other blenders.
The Vita-Mix and Blendtec are pretty high end appliances, each costing around $400. But what about lower end blenders...are there affordable blenders that perform well? The answer is yes!
While on vacation I used my sisters KitchenAid blender and was very impressed! This little blender performed well and doesn't break the bank. Check out this link for KitchenAid Blender specifics & Reviews.
Model: KSB560
Container Material: Polycarbinate
Cost New: $120
Cost Refurbished: $65
I used this blender to make smoothies and hummus and it performed well! One thing I did miss was having the plunger from my Vita-Mix to persuade some stubborn frozen smoothie to mingle with the blades. For around $100 the KitchenAid KSB560 is a great blender! So if you dont want to drop $400 bucks and still was a great performing blender - check out a KitchenAid KSB560O Blender!

If you ever want to upgrade - look into a Vitamix 5200!
